Val Comelico: emotions all year round between nature and tradition
If you fancy a holiday in the Dolomites, Val Comelico is the ideal destination – whatever the season.
In winter, you can reconnect with nature as you explore the snowy landscape with its paths cloaked in silence, ski slopes and snowshoe trails.
In summer, the lush green woods and meadows and the clear blue sky and streams become the ideal backdrop for a whole range of experiences. If you want something gentle, you can explore on foot or horseback; if you’re more adventurous, get your adrenaline pumping with a mountain bike ride or a climb. The Dolomites, with the Alpenglow that tinges the rocks pink at sunset, are also ideal for trekking and via ferratas.
In spring, the flower meadows are a riot of colour, while as the leaves change in autumn, they fill the valley with warm shades that convey a sense of calm and wonder.
The beauty of Val Comelico goes beyond nature: with villages steeped in history and the genuine flavours of its mountain cuisine, you will make memories you will never forget.
And at the end of the day, Chalet Pian De La Mola will be there to welcome you, conveying a feeling of calm, comfort and the relaxed pace of the mountains.

Genuine flavours and culture
Val Comelico and the Belluno Dolomites offer more than just nature, they are steeped in tradition, local fare and culture. Like at carnival time, when people parade through the streets dressed up as colourful “lachè ” and “matazin”. Or their typical cuisine such as barley soup, ‘casunziei’, ‘canederli’, polenta… so much to choose from!
Traditional architecture and artistic treasures
Stroll through the villages where time seems to stand still and admire their traditional architecture and churches, home to many priceless artistic treasures.
The Church of San Nicolò, for instance, has an important cycle of frescoes by Gianfrancesco da Tolmezzo and a gilded wooden altar, the work of the Ghirlanduzzi di Ceneda brothers. The Parish Church of Santo Stefano di Cadore has a monumental altar in Carrara marble and the church of Santa Maria Assunta in Candide has frescoes by Giovanni De Min. The church of Saints Rocco and Osvaldo in Dosoledo is home to an altar of Our Lady of Sorrows by the “Michelangelo of Wood”, Andrea Brustolon.
